The Pump House opens on Park Gate, Shirley on Tuesday 9th December. I was invited along to a training session today & found the pub to be very welcoming. The staff were lovely & so happy to help.
The range of ales, lagers & gins are extensive and the bar area is attractive with some lovely bar stool areas. The decor is cool & interesting as well as being cosy & intimate. There's a choice of booths or you can combine tables for larger groups ( there were 11 of us). Children are welcome too and it had a nice feeling of people dining rather than being there just to drink which can be off putting if you have children with you.
The food arrived quickly & was very hot due to the close proximity of the kitchen. We ordered a gourmet burger and I was asked if I d like an extra burger party or chicken - knowing my man the way I do, I said ' of course' and thought we d work out how we could manage all the good later!
The burger was as tasty as some that cost twice as much! I loved the Stilton & spring onion sauce & the chicken breast was moist. Chips were hot & well cooked as were the accompanying onion rings. The picture doesn't do it justice as I was so excited to dig in that we d eaten all the onion rings before I took the photo.
The staff were accommodating and on hand with a smile, whatever you asked! We were so impressed that we ll be there for the opening on Tuesday ( steak night!)
So if you re ever in the area & fancy a spot if food or a coffee after your shopping I highly recommend the Pump House - and it seems like you can park for free in Asda for up to three hours...so easy to combine the two. -

First visit to The Pump House and I must say, I like the size of the space. Feels like I'm somewhere back home opposed to all the smaller and cramped restaurants I've seen in the UK.
Prices are definitely reasonable, around £4.95 for a meal and a soft drink or a couple pound more for an alcoholic beverage. I was feeling like a hot dog so that's what I went for. Unfortunately our waitress didn't let me know they were out of hotdogs till after everyone else's food in my group arrived.
They asked what I wanted instead and were able to have it brought out in a reasonable amount of time. Due to the convenience, I ended up asking if they could throw in a apple crumble at no cost. They said yes without hesitation and just wanted to make right their mistake. I'm always happy when a business goes above and beyond to fix a problem and show that they care about their patrons.
If I'm in the area again shopping I will make sure to come back, I had wonderful service and food was great! -

Great value for money. I tend to go for the all day veg breakfast. Absolute bargain at £5.69. The sausages are quorn and the chips are awesome.
1172 calories though in total...oops! Easy to order at the bar, can be busy at times but they are usually well staffed. -

Went here with a small group and was very impressed with the large menu and endless coffee refills. There are daily specials such as Steak Tuesday to take advantage of to keep you coming back.
The layout is warm and friendly with tables close enough to feel a pub atmosphere without feeling like sardines.
Food arrived quickly.
We loved the Proseco special -- looks very impressive in the ice bucket. -
